CEDAR RETURNS HOME

Michael Cedar, one of Townsville Basketball’s great juniors is returning home, and will suit up in the Townsville Heat in the NBL1 North in 2023.

Cedar moved away from Townsville after finishing his NBL career with the Townsville Crocodiles in 2013 after playing 219 games for the club and has since played for multiple clubs at the NBL1 level, most recently for the Logan Thunder.

He will return home with his family later this month.

“‘Returning to Townsville and being able to pull on a Heat singlet again is something that I didn’t think would happen again.”, said Cedar.

“I am beyond excited at what I can achieve through work, basketball and family on our adventure to the place that is part of my every fibre and make up as a person.”.

“I can still play, and can’t wait to get to work and be around the up and coming talent our great city has’”.

Cedar’s signature will add a great amount of experience to the roster for 2023.

“I had the privilege of coaching Mick as a young lad at the crocs and I look forward to welcoming home one of our greats. His leadership skills will be important to our group”, said Heat Head coach Shane Froling.

On top of what he will bring on the court Townsville Basketball is even more excited with what he can deliver off the court with his work in the First Nations community key to the directions of the association.

More announcements will be made for the NBL1 program this week with another three players to be revealed this week.
